COMING UP!
LIVE UNITED - LIVE 2 DECEMBER 4 at 6pm
Our 38th annual Alternative Christmas Fair will take place “virtually” this year, December 6 through December 20, due to COVID-19 concerns. On those days holiday “shoppers” can donate to 30 local, national, and international charities. A quick trip to https://ubbcwelcome.org/acf will show you how to give online or by check. You can also use the QR code below to access the online shopping center via your mobile device.
Last year, 26 charities shared in more than $43,000 that was given by people in our community. While we miss the opportunity to have representatives of our beneficiaries gather in Fellowship Hall to meet and talk with our “shoppers,” (we’ll do that again next year) we are excited at being able to offer to our patrons the ease of online giving. And the extra “space” we gain by not being in a physical place has allowed us to add four new organizations for 2020.
Here are the organizations to which you may donate:
Center for Alternatives in Community Justice Hope International Services
Centre County PAWS House of Care
Centre County Youth Service Bureau Housing Transitions
Centre Helps Interfaith Human Services
Centre LGBTQA Support Network Jana Marie Foundation
CentrePeace Midstate Literacy Council
Centre Region Down Syndrome Society Out of the Cold
Centre Safe PA Interfaith Power and Light
Centre Volunteers in Medicine PA Prison Society
Park Forest Preschool Church World Service
Save the Children Fund
Clearwater Conservancy of Central PA State College Food Bank
Dyslexia Reading Center of Central PA State College Meals on Wheels
Habitat for Humanity of Centre County Ten Thousand Villages
Heifer International Tides Program
Make the season merrier by supporting the good work of these charities! See you at The Alternative Christmas Fair!
PAST EVENT
Constitution Day – 2020
The annual Constitution Day event was postponed at Tussey Mountain due to COVID-19 concerns and reset for September 2021. CACJ has been an active participant for years, representing the Eighth Amendment.
This year the Constitution Day Centre Celebration will go virtual with a series of videos and live Zoom lectures throughout the fall.
The local nonprofit organization that organizes this important event aims to educate residents about the impact of the Constitution on our daily lives, promote civics education, and bring together people of all ages, backgrounds, and political beliefs to support our democracy.
The virtual schedule includes videos celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote, the 233th birthday of the Constitution, and Voting Matters. Educator Dr. Greg Ferro will give live Zoom talks on Constitutional topics on three dates. Go to www.constitutiondaycentre.org for event dates and information. They are open to the public, with registration required for the Zoom talks.
